How did “The Funcles” come about?
Stephen had the brilliant (and terrifying) idea of taking 30 people to Disneyland. To our excitement (and Dez’s surprise), the day was incredible! The families walked away grateful for family time, exhausted in the best way possible, and we were officially deemed the FUNcles.
As the official Funcles, we figured we’d offer what we know best: FUN. By simply changing up the scenery and receiving an opportunity to enjoy each other stress free, we were pretty certain both the parents and kids would benefit. The positive impact a getaway, event, or gathering could have on our friend’s marriages and children far outweighed whatever it might cost.
A few months later we took 11 families (almost 50 people) for a 2-night stay at a family-friendly resort that resulted in a lot of laughter, pool time, and life-long memories. We realized that fun uncles can make a serious impact! And it’s from that getaway that we decided we wanted to continue doing whatever we could to facilitate more opportunities to impact more families and even encourage more fun aunts and uncles to have a positive impact in the lives of the families around them.
